Overview

Briefrr is a Chrome extension that helps you understand webpages using Google’s Gemini API. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect any personal information
• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not store webpage content
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties

Data Storage

API Key

Your Gemini API key is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. It never leaves your device except when making authorized requests to Google’s Gemini API.

Onboarding Status

We store a simple flag indicating whether you’ve completed the initial setup. This is stored locally in your browser.

Data Transmission

Webpage Content

When you use Briefrr on a webpage, the text content of that page is sent to Google’s Gemini API for processing. This is necessary to generate summaries, explanations, and search results.

Important:

• Content is only sent when you actively use the extension
• We do not access, store, or retain this content
• Content is processed by Google’s Gemini API according to their privacy policy

Permissions Explained

Briefrr requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: Read the content of the current webpage when you click the extension icon
• storage: Store your API key and preferences locally in your browser
• scripting: Inject the Briefrr interface into webpages
• host_permissions (generativelanguage.googleapis.com): Communicate with Google’s Gemini API

Third-Party Services

Briefrr uses Google’s Gemini API to process webpage content. Please review Google’s Privacy Policy for information about how Google handles data sent to their API.

Your Control

You can:

• Remove your API key at any time through the extension settings
• Uninstall the extension to delete all locally stored data
• Choose when to use the extension on specific pages

Children’s Privacy

Briefrr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted with an updated “Last updated” date.
